Red Door Church’s Kenya Ministry

Back in 2015, Pastor Josh met Pastor Julius Nyambuoro during one of his trips to the USA. Since that time, they have been working together for glory of God and the good of the Kenyan people. Pastor Julius (pictured below on the far right with his wife, Roda) is a part of a network of churches called Christ’s Commission Fellowship, which has over two dozen churches across Kenya. Our church is primarily focused on helping the churches in Western Kenya, which are overseen by Pastor Julius and his elders.

Pastor Julius has come to the United States on various occasions over the last 10 years and has preached the Word at Red Door Church. His son, Erick, who lives full time in the States, has also preached at Red Door Church. We are thankful for the blessing they have been to us in this way.

In 2023, I was invited to go and visit Kenya with a good friend, Pastor Tim Frisch. Tim also has preached a Red Door Church on a few occasions and has connections in Kenya as well.

While in Kenya that summer, Pastor Josh and Pastor Tim visited many of the churches in Christ Commission Fellowship’s network. We had the opportunity to preach and pray for people many times. We were so very honored to share the gospel with these precious people. In addition, Pastor Tim’s church purchased 300 bibles and had those distributed among the churches we visited.

Another reason for our trip was to find a spot for a deep well. Red Door Church’s children’s ministry, called “Young Lions,” had been raising money for a couple of years in the hopes of finding a location for a well to be dug somewhere that would help Pastor Julius’ ministry. Unsanitary water is a major issue in the rural parts of Kenya where Pastor Julius’ church network is located (he has nearly died a couple of times from dysentery, contracted through dirty water). For a long time, Pastor Julius had desired to start a church in Bondo. He had managed to find a good piece of land and began building a home there, so we traveled there in the hopes that this would be a good location for the well. After having some tests done, it turns out that his front yard was an ideal spot for the deep well.

Location for well installation

After collecting all of the needed funds, the Young Lions were able to break ground and get the deep well dug and installed in 2024. Here are some pictures of the well being transported and installed.

We later had solar power installed on the roof of Pastor Julius’ home to power the pump. As I type these words, the people there have clean water to drink and cook with.

Red Door Church also recently helped Pastor Julius put on a revival meeting in Bondo to get the church plant started. He wrote to me after the few days of worship and preaching: “My beloved brother and friend Pastor Josh, the crusade was very successful because 10 people gave their lives to Christ and many others were encouraged in the faith.”

Praise and worship happening at the revival

Now we have begun raising money to help Christ Commission Fellowship become more self-sustaining. At present, we are hoping to help them begin a poultry business, which will provide both eggs and meat for their communities.
